Gifts that work for graduation on the streets

Someone asked me what were some ideas I had for great graduation gifts for teens experiencing homelessness or transitioning out. Depending on the age and the interests, here's a few tips:

Netbooks: Their cheaper than a laptop, provide access to the internet with built in WiFi through free hotspots, and they'll serve both academic and recreational interests.

MP3 Players: Can't say this enough, kids love music. Don't ask 'where' they'll get their music...trust me, they will.

Walmart PREPAID Debit Cards: While I used to advocate Walmart Gift Cards, their Debit Cards only cost $4.95. Hand it to a teen and they've got the ability to use it anywhere Visa is accepted as well as get their part time job's payroll Direct Deposited on it. It can save them the hassle of dealing with banks or check cashing locations that overcharge as it is.
