From their site the following information...
First Coast Forum: Homelessness
Thursday, November 15 at 8 pm
Confirmed panelists:
• Terry Lorince, Downtown Vision Executive Director
• Audrey Moran, Sulzbacher Center President
• Ju’coby Pittman, Clara White Mission President
• Diane Gilbert, Jacksonville Homeless Coalition
• Janice Ancrum, Community Connections Associate Director
Audience members can participate in First Coast Forum by emailing questions and comments to firstcoastforum@wjct.org or by calling (904) 358-6347 during the program.
I've contacted them about attending the forum. I don't doubt the intent of this forum, but there isn't anyone representing the homeless community...just the service providers. I don't feel that's right.
If you're a regular reader; or are familiar with me online and know of my advocacy on this issue; please leave a comment on your view for the benefit of WJCT Public Television in case they see this entry.
Should John; or someone else representing homeless people themselves; be part of this public live broadcast forum? Please...comment.

I don't see how a panel can be one hundred percent objective and also be able to explain the plight of homelessnesss without a person present who has experienced it.
Do they think that they cannot find a homeless person who is intelligent enough to be on the panel?
I do apologize if that statement is too strong, however, unless one has been homeless then how can they truly understand all there is to know about it?
I myself am among those who is fairly intelligent yet I am disabled. If not for my husband and two children I would most likely be living somewhere on the streets.
Also in our twenty-five years of marriage together we ourselves have been very close many times to not being able to make it with our monthly bills. We too could have easily been counted among the homeless had we missed merely one paycheck.
I am a very strong advocate for the homeless in America and our country's lack of interest to help those who have fallen upon unexpected hard times. Or, worse yet kicked out in the streets by state hospitals due to lack of government funding.
I most definitely feel someone should be present that has been on the other side and really knows what is happening to the homeless in America.

I know I won't sound very intelligent BUT how can you not have a person standing up for the Homeless themselves? A former or current Homeless person should be there too, The Homeless need a voice and ears that really truly understand, not just in theory, but in real life experience! It sorta like running a construction company from a desk, unless you physically go out into the field, you have no real clue of how things really work!
I think most of the higher ups would like to sweep the homeless
(they think of them as dirty laundry I'm sure)under the bus so that the problem won't have to be thought of....
The sad fact is this, life isn't all malls and movies... Real things happen to real families everyday that put them into the position to be homeless, real life situations put single men and woman on the streets every day, whether it be monetary reasons or mental issues, It happens and most of us turn our heads and walk back to our nice little house and draw the blinds..... OUT OF SIGHT-OUT OF MIND!
John C. I think you really care, I'm sure if you had never of been Homeless you would still care, Thats what makes you right for this panel.
PEACE-Be the reason
Well, I guess it is time to "Meet the press" ... Let me see what I can do with one simple Email ...
I agree, John. Seems like your participation, or any other advocates for the homeless, would help make this a well rounded, balanced panel. Keep up the good work!
Great work John. Thank you for posting this.
A homeless forum without the homeless taking part! That has the same inteligence as the government discussing health insurance for the uninsured when the committee all has health insurance.
When will people open their eyes?
The Marc Seiner Show on WYPR in Baltimore has had a couple of segments on homelessness in which homeless, or formerly homeless people were invited guests. They were excellent programs.
Keep it real, as they say on the street.
