Neato!
The story done in Folio Weekly by Owen Holmes is out today on Page 10. For his touch and compassion in doing this story, I have to thank him so very much in illuminating many to a very human side of a scenario that gets painted ugly.
Thanks, Owen. Click the pic and you'll see who's story is on the top of the front cover!
Did some searching on archives on media spots in town, and found something of my daughter's! She was one of the selected artists who contributed to last year's I.M. Sulzbacher Christmas Card program. Her door is number 7 in this PDF. Notice the number on her door is #212...our door while at IMS, along with a doghouse to the left of the house's door with her brother's name on it.
I don't know if she knew I'd notice that or not. Kids!
My wife went down to the library to get the children permanent library cards. We've been using one temporary one since we're identified as being in a shelter...can only get four items at a time. Now, they'll have normal privies.
Received a table from the maintenance man that was left by a prior tenant in the complex. It's wobbly, but it does the ticket...also it's a place for me to put my keyboard on since I was able to repair and restore my PC. Spent about three hours cleaning up my Microsoft Outlook and PDA files.
I'm noticing more that my hands are drying out and needing lotion since getting into an AC environment. Eyes are dryer too, so I'll see about getting drops or something.
No fix yet on the door, but they did do a measurement today. Drains are still backing up in the shower and sink in the kid's bathroom. It's just good to be able to get a 8 minute shower in peace and solitude.

Hi John,
Four years ago I lost my job. Everyone that was laid off with me left Jacksonville. I stayed and worked to find another job. I was unemployed for 3 years and I too have 4 kids. I sold all my investments, borrowed money, ran up credit cards... all to keep from loosing my house. After three years of depression and stress, I got my first job and through it all I was able to keep my house. So I felt your pain and I'm proud of you for being able to hang in there. So just know...you're not alone in dealing with this sort of trauma.

I am so proud of you John for being that voice. I missed the spot on the news last night but my friend happened to be talking about it today at lunch. I was like, "hey, I know that guy." Thank you for giving a personal face to homelessness, my fellow "homie". All I can say is...watch what happens now.
my pleasure, john. it was great meeting you. i'll keep up with your situation by continuing to read your blog.
p.s. heard the bums at fox 30 ripped off my story.
OMG! That's funny. The only thing Jeff and Joe did to me bad was my chewing gum!
I took it out of my mouth so I wouldn't be chewing on camera. I'm so considerate and thoughtful, I didn't want to throw it on the ground...and the only place since I don't have a bed in Hemming Plaza was on the cap of my Mountain Dew bottle.
So help me...I said something to Joe about it...I'm gonna get him with a supersoaker sometime is all I'm gonna say. :)
I didn't get a chance to hear the broadcast last night, so I don't know if the anchors mentioned the story in Folio...which was supposed to happen. This afternoon's noon broadcast didn't mention it.
Just remember...I...mentioned it...and you...first...and foremeost. Gotta mention though...TU hasn't touched me...does that make me pure?
